TDA has a position open for a bench chemist. The ideal candidate would have a B.S. or M.S. in Chemistry and three to five years of experience in a chemical industry or R&D environment.

Responsibilities:

  • Perform various research and development tasks in a chemical and analytical laboratory under the direction of a senior scientist.
  • Execute safe and effective chemical handling techniques: many of our projects and processes use materials that require proper handling and storage.
  • Follow detailed instructions when performing established experimental methods.
  • Use analytic methods to identify products and quantify the composition of product mixtures, including (but not limited to) Elemental Analysis, TOC, GC, HPLC, NMR, FTIR and UV/VIS spectroscopy.
  • Identify trends, anomalies, and opportunities for improvement in R&D projects.
  • Analyze data and prepare experimental and quality control reports.
  • Create safety documents, submit documentation for safety approval.
  • Keep detailed records

Technical Requirements:

  • Excellent chemical hygiene.
  • Experience with wet chemistry sample preparation techniques including serial dilution
  • Chemical process scale-up and large-batch synthetic experience are a benefit.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal direction.
  • Excellent English verbal and written communication skills.
  • Staff are expected to work on several projects simultaneously in a fast-paced environment. Therefore, flexibility and an ability to learn new techniques quickly are essential.

TDA is seeking a highly qualified chemical engineer with a passion for developing advanced technologies and translating them into real-world applications.  The ideal candidate will have:

  • Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering or closely related field

TDA is seeking an Operations Assistant Intern; the job function is to assist the Manager of Operations and Safety in routine tasks, which may include assembly of electronics hardware, office and clerical work, and warehousing and storage, including unloading and loading of vehicles. The applicant should have good communications skills, ability to take notes accurately for documentation of the process and follow-up written procedures.

This is a part-time, temporary position. Work days and hours will vary from week to week, and will be determined by the supervisor.

TDA is seeking a technician to carry out tests of chemical processes. The ideal candidate will have a BS in chemical or mechanical engineering, or HS diploma/GED with five to 10 years of relevant experience in an industry or R&D environment

The Technician will work with project leaders and engineers to troubleshoot equipment and carry out tests and experiments. Preferred skills include:

  • Machining
  • Plumbing – gas and liquid
  • Electrical wiring
  • Basic knowledge of chemistry
  • Familiarity with safety procedures
  • Experience with LabView software is desirable

The Technician will:

  • Operate test rigs to generate data on the materials and processes TDA is developing

This position will focus on engineering design including 3D CAD and engineering drawings.  Experience with, design for manufacturing and geometric dimension and tolerancing are desirable and experience with plastic molding is a plus.  Our work develops materials and devices for the chemical, energy and defense industries. All of these projects involve hands on laboratory and pilot testing of the materials, including the design, building and use of automated reactors, prototype devices, analysis of the data, and the preparation of reports based on the data. A good understanding of kinetics, mass transfer, heat transfer, fluid flow and chemistry are desirable. Skills with computer aided mechanical design (SolidWorks) and/or fluids or process simulation is useful, as is the ability to prepare complete P&IDs and specify the process hardware. The Mechanical Engineering Technician will work with project leaders and engineers to assemble and troubleshoot equipment. Preferred skills include:

The Mechanical Engineering Technician will:

  • Install, calibrate and maintain equipment.
  • Electrically/mechanically troubleshoot and maintain both new and existing laboratory  equipment (autoclaves, pumps, ovens, chillers, mixers).
  • Assist with all laboratory moves and new equipment installations
  • Under general supervision, calibrate various lab tools and instruments (for example, mass flow controllers, thermocouples, data loggers.)
  • Document records of inspections, maintenance activity, repairs, and other work performed.
  • Convey complex information clearly and concisely.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

The candidate should be able to drive a fork truck and TDA vehicles, and to use a pallet jack. The technician may be required to work with a variety of hazardous materials, such as compressed gases, cryogenic liquids, acids, bases, oxidizers, solvents, vacuum pump oils, and other hazardous chemicals. The technician will receive specialized safety training and be an active member of the safety and spill teams. The technician will travel between sites in a personal vehicle.
