TDA offers a complete benefits package including medical, dental, life insurance, 401K plan with employer match and paid time off.

TDA has a position open for a research engineer. The ideal candidate would have a B.S. in Chemical or Mechanical Engineering and three to five years of experience in a chemical industry or R&D environment. TDA carries out R&D in catalysis and adsorption, aerospace components, and personal protective equipment.  TDA’s objective is to carry out research that leads to commercial products, several products that are the result of our research have gone into production or large scale use, and others are nearing commercialization.

Our position involves the complete range of chemical process development and construction. Our work starts with the development and testing of catalysts and sorbents for the chemical, energy and defense industries, and runs through the scale up of the production of these materials and the processes that are based on them. All of these projects involve hands on laboratory and pilot testing of the materials, including the design, building and use of automated chemical reactors, analysis of the data, and the preparation of reports based on the data. All projects also involve the design and analysis of systems based on the new materials, so a good understanding of kinetics, mass transfer, heat transfer, fluid flow and chemistry are essential. Skills with computer aided mechanical design (SolidWorks) and/or fluids or process simulation is useful, as is the ability to prepare complete P&IDs and specify the process hardware. A person with both theoretical knowledge as well as hands-on experience would be ideal, as would experience in process scale up.

In the above position knowledge pertinent to the particular research area at TDA is a benefit, but our major requirements are a mastery of engineering fundamentals, experimental ability and/or experience scaling up chemical processes.  Recent graduates applying for this opening should include their GPA in their resume. TDA carries out work in a wide variety of areas, and virtually all staff work on two or three projects simultaneously.  Therefore, an interest in and ability to learn quickly is essential.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Ability to lift 40 pounds.
  • Ability to sit, stand, or kneel for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to ascend and descend stairs and ladders
